Partido Socialista Unificado de Alemania
The Partido Socialista Unificado de Alemania (PSUA) was a political party in East Germany, officially known as the República Democrática Alemana (RDA). Founded in 1946, it emerged from the merger of the Partido Comunista de Alemania and the Partido Socialdemócrata de Alemania. The PSUA played a central role in the governance of East Germany, promoting socialist policies and aligning closely with the Unión Soviética.
The PSUA was the ruling party until the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, which marked the beginning of the end for the party's influence. Following the reunification of Germany in 1990, the PSUA was dissolved, and many of its members transitioned to the Partido de la Izquierda (Die Linke), which continues to advocate for socialist principles in modern Germany.
