Parsi
The term "Parsi" refers to members of a Zoroastrian community in India, primarily descended from Persian Zoroastrians who migrated to the Indian subcontinent around the 8th to 10th centuries. They settled mainly in the western state of Gujarat and have since maintained their distinct religious and cultural identity, which is rooted in the teachings of the ancient prophet Zoroaster.
Parsis are known for their contributions to Indian society, particularly in fields like business, education, and philanthropy. They celebrate unique festivals such as Navroz, the Persian New Year, and Gahambars, seasonal festivals that honor creation. Their cuisine, characterized by dishes like dhansak and patra, is also an integral part of their cultural heritage.
