Parliament of Ireland
The Parliament of Ireland, also known as the Irish Parliament, was the legislative body of the Kingdom of Ireland from the 13th century until its dissolution in 1800. It consisted of two houses: the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The Parliament was responsible for making laws and governing the country, but its powers were limited by the influence of the British Parliament.
In 1800, the Act of Union merged the Parliament of Ireland with the Parliament of Great Britain, creating the Parliament of the United Kingdom. This change meant that Ireland was represented in Westminster, and the Irish Parliament ceased to exist. The legacy of the Parliament of Ireland continues to influence modern Irish governance.
