Papunya Tula
Papunya Tula is an Aboriginal art movement that originated in the early 1970s in the community of Papunya, located in the Northern Territory of Australia. It began when a group of Indigenous artists started to create traditional paintings using modern materials, blending ancient stories and cultural practices with contemporary techniques.
The movement is known for its distinctive dot painting style, which often represents the artists' connection to their land and Dreamtime stories. Papunya Tula artists have gained international recognition, and their work has played a significant role in promoting Indigenous culture and art worldwide.
