The Pap 검사, or Pap smear, is a medical test used to screen for cervical cancer in women. During the procedure, a healthcare provider collects cells from the cervix, which is the lower part of the uterus. These cells are then examined under a microscope to check for any abnormalities that may indicate cancer or precancerous conditions. Regular Pap 검사 screenings are recommended for women starting at age 21, with follow-up tests every three years until age 29. For women aged 30 to 65, it is advised to have a Pap smear every three years or a combination of Pap smear and HPV 검사 every five years.
