Panchayat System
The Panchayat System is a form of local self-government in rural areas of India. It consists of a council of elected representatives, known as the Panchayat, which is responsible for making decisions on local issues, implementing development programs, and maintaining law and order. The system aims to empower communities by involving them in governance and decision-making processes.
The Panchayat is typically structured at three levels: the Gram Panchayat (village level), the Panchayat Samiti (block level), and the Zila Parishad (district level). Each level has its own elected members and functions to address the needs of the local population. This decentralized approach promotes grassroots democracy and enhances accountability in governance.
