Pancha Rathas
The Pancha Rathas are a group of five monolithic rock-cut temples located in Mahabalipuram, India. Built during the 7th century by the Pallava dynasty, these structures are named after the five Pandava brothers from the Indian epic, the Mahabharata. Each temple is uniquely designed, showcasing intricate carvings and architectural styles that reflect the artistry of the period.
These temples are carved from a single granite rock and are arranged in a line, resembling chariots or rathas. The Pancha Rathas are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and are significant for their historical and cultural value, attracting tourists and scholars interested in ancient Indian architecture and history.
