On March 27, 1977, Pan Am Flight 1736, a Boeing 747, was involved in a tragic accident at Los Rodeos Airport in Tenerife, Spain. The flight was attempting to take off when it collided with KLM Flight 4805, another Boeing 747, during a dense fog.
The disaster resulted in the deaths of 583 people, making it the deadliest aviation accident in history.
