Palmar Arch
The palmar arch refers to the network of blood vessels located in the palm of the hand. It is formed by the anastomosis of the terminal branches of the radial artery and the ulnar artery. This structure plays a crucial role in supplying blood to the hand and fingers, ensuring they receive adequate oxygen and nutrients.
There are two main types of palmar arches: the superficial palmar arch and the deep palmar arch. The superficial arch is located just beneath the skin and supplies blood to the fingers, while the deep arch is situated deeper in the hand, providing blood to the muscles and other structures.
