Pain Pathway
The "Pain Pathway" refers to the series of processes that the body uses to detect and respond to pain. It begins when specialized nerve endings, called nociceptors, sense harmful stimuli, such as heat or pressure. These nociceptors send signals through nerve fibers to the spinal cord and then to the brain, where the sensation of pain is perceived.
Once the brain processes the pain signals, it can trigger various responses, including emotional reactions and physical responses like withdrawal from the source of pain. The pain pathway is essential for protecting the body from injury and promoting healing by encouraging avoidance of harmful situations.
