PMRC
The PMRC, or Parents Music Resource Center, is an organization founded in 1985 by a group of parents, including Tipper Gore, to advocate for labeling music with explicit content. The group aimed to inform parents about the themes in popular music, particularly those related to violence, drug use, and sexual content.
The PMRC is best known for its push for the Parental Advisory label, which appears on albums containing explicit lyrics. This label serves as a warning to consumers, helping parents make informed decisions about the music their children listen to.
