Ovoviviparity
Ovoviviparity is a reproductive strategy in which embryos develop inside eggs that remain within the mother's body until they are ready to hatch. This means that the young are born live, but they receive no direct nourishment from the mother during development. Instead, they rely on the yolk stored in the egg.
This method is found in some species of fish, reptiles, and invertebrates. It allows the mother to protect her developing young from environmental hazards while still providing them with the benefits of being born live. Examples of ovoviviparous animals include certain species of sharks and snakes.
