Ouyang Xiu
Ouyang Xiu was a prominent Chinese scholar, historian, and poet during the Song Dynasty. Born in 1007, he is best known for his contributions to literature and his role in the development of the Song Dynasty culture. Ouyang Xiu was also a key figure in the reform of the civil service examination system, advocating for merit-based appointments.
In addition to his literary achievements, Ouyang Xiu served in various government positions, including as a governor. His historical writings, particularly the New History of the Tang, are considered significant contributions to Chinese historiography.
