Osphronemidae
The family Osphronemidae consists of freshwater fish commonly known as gouramis. They are primarily found in Southeast Asia and are known for their unique ability to breathe air using a specialized organ called the labyrinth organ. This adaptation allows them to thrive in oxygen-poor waters.
Gouramis exhibit a variety of colors and sizes, making them popular in the aquarium trade. Some well-known species include the Betta and the Dwarf Gourami. They are generally peaceful fish, often living in small groups, and prefer densely planted environments that mimic their natural habitats.
