Gourami
Gourami are freshwater fish belonging to the family Osphronemidae, commonly found in Southeast Asia. They are known for their vibrant colors and unique shapes, making them popular in home aquariums. Gourami species vary in size, with some growing up to 12 inches long. They thrive in warm, calm waters and often inhabit rice paddies, swamps, and slow-moving rivers.
These fish are characterized by their labyrinth organ, which allows them to breathe atmospheric air. Gourami are generally peaceful and can coexist with other fish species, making them suitable for community tanks. They primarily feed on small insects, crustaceans, and plant matter.
