Operation Rösselsprung
Operation Rösselsprung was a military operation conducted by the Nazi Germany forces during World War II in 1944. Its primary objective was to capture Josip Broz Tito, the leader of the Yugoslav Partisans, who was a significant figure in the resistance against Axis occupation in the Balkans. The operation involved a large-scale airborne assault and ground troops.
The operation took place in the Yugoslav mountains, where Tito was believed to be located. Despite the extensive planning and resources allocated, the mission ultimately failed, as Tito and his forces managed to evade capture. This setback highlighted the challenges faced by the Axis powers in the region.
