Operation Plumbbob
Operation Plumbbob was a series of nuclear tests conducted by the United States from May to October 1957. It took place at the Nevada Test Site and included 29 detonations, making it one of the largest testing series during the Cold War. The tests aimed to gather data on the effects of nuclear explosions and improve the design of nuclear weapons.
The operation also involved various types of tests, including atmospheric and underground detonations. Some tests were conducted to study the impact of nuclear blasts on military equipment and structures. Operation Plumbbob played a significant role in advancing nuclear technology and understanding the consequences of nuclear warfare.
