Nevada Test Site
The Nevada Test Site, now known as the Nevada National Security Site, is a large area in southern Nevada used primarily for nuclear testing and research. Established in 1951, it covers about 1,360 square miles and has been the site of numerous underground and atmospheric nuclear tests conducted by the United States government.
In addition to nuclear testing, the site is involved in various scientific and engineering projects related to national security. It also serves as a testing ground for non-nuclear explosives and other technologies, contributing to the development of defense systems and ensuring the safety of the nation's nuclear arsenal.
