Operation Oboe
"Operation Oboe" was a military campaign conducted by Allied forces during World War II, specifically aimed at capturing the island of Borneo in 1945. The operation was part of the broader strategy to secure the South West Pacific and involved troops from Australia and other Allied nations. The campaign sought to disrupt Japanese supply lines and establish control over the region.
The operation commenced in June 1945 and included several landings on different parts of Borneo, such as Tarakan and Balikpapan. The successful execution of Operation Oboe contributed to the weakening of Japanese forces in the area and helped pave the way for the eventual liberation of the Philippines.
