Operation Oboe II
Operation Oboe II was a military campaign during World War II, specifically part of the Pacific Theater. Launched in June 1945, its primary objective was to capture the island of Borneo from Japanese forces. This operation aimed to secure vital resources and establish a strategic base for future operations in the region.
The operation involved troops from the Australian Army and was marked by amphibious landings. The successful capture of Borneo contributed to the overall Allied strategy of weakening Japanese control in Southeast Asia, ultimately leading to the end of the war in the Pacific.
