Omotic languages
Omotic languages are a branch of the Afro-Asiatic language family, primarily spoken in southwestern Ethiopia. They are known for their rich morphological structure, which includes complex verb forms and a variety of noun classes. The languages in this group are diverse, with several distinct languages and dialects, such as Wolaytta and Gamo.
These languages are characterized by their use of tone and vowel harmony, which can change the meaning of words. Omotic languages are less widely studied compared to other language families, but they play a crucial role in understanding the linguistic diversity of the Horn of Africa.
