Ogoni
The Ogoni are an ethnic group located in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. They primarily inhabit the Ogoni land, which consists of four local government areas: Khana, Gokana, Tai, and Eleme. The Ogoni people are known for their rich cultural heritage, including traditional music, dance, and festivals.
The Ogoni have gained international attention due to their activism against environmental degradation caused by oil extraction by companies like Royal Dutch Shell. The movement, led by figures such as Ken Saro-Wiwa, has highlighted issues of pollution and human rights, advocating for the protection of their land and resources.
