MOSOP
The Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People, or MOSOP, is a non-governmental organization founded in 1990 in Nigeria. It advocates for the rights and environmental protection of the Ogoni people, an ethnic group in the Niger Delta region. MOSOP emerged in response to the environmental degradation caused by oil extraction activities in the area, which have severely impacted local communities and their livelihoods.
MOSOP seeks to promote social justice, environmental sustainability, and the cultural rights of the Ogoni people. The organization has gained international attention for its efforts to address issues such as pollution, land rights, and corporate accountability, often highlighting the struggles faced by indigenous communities in resource-rich regions.
