Odua Peoples Congress
The Odua Peoples Congress (OPC) is a socio-cultural organization founded in 1994 in Nigeria. It aims to promote the interests and welfare of the Yoruba people, an ethnic group primarily located in the southwestern region of the country. The OPC advocates for the rights of the Yoruba and seeks to address issues such as social justice, economic development, and cultural preservation.
The organization emerged during a period of political unrest in Nigeria, particularly in response to the annulment of the 1993 presidential election, which was widely believed to have been won by Moshood Abiola. The OPC has been involved in various activities, including community development projects and advocacy for regional autonomy within the Nigerian federation.
