Octavia Hill
Octavia Hill (1838-1912) was a British social reformer and housing activist known for her work in improving living conditions for the urban poor. She co-founded the National Trust in 1895, which aimed to preserve historic sites and green spaces in England. Hill believed that access to quality housing and nature was essential for the well-being of individuals and communities.
In addition to her housing initiatives, Hill was a pioneer in the field of social housing. She managed properties in London that provided affordable accommodations for low-income families. Her innovative approach combined social responsibility with property management, influencing future housing policies and practices in the UK.
