Oba Of Benin
The Oba of Benin is the traditional ruler of the Benin Kingdom, located in present-day Nigeria. This title has been held by a lineage of kings since the 13th century, making it one of the oldest monarchies in Africa. The Oba plays a significant role in the cultural and spiritual life of the Edo people, overseeing ceremonies and maintaining traditions.
The current Oba, Ewuare II, ascended the throne in 2016. The Oba's palace, known as the Benin Royal Palace, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and serves as a center for the kingdom's history and culture.
