Oak Wilt
Oak Wilt is a serious tree disease caused by the fungus Ceratocystis fagacearum. It primarily affects species of oak trees, particularly red oaks and white oaks. The disease spreads through root grafts between trees and by insects, especially sap-feeding beetles, which carry the spores from infected to healthy trees.
Symptoms of Oak Wilt include wilting leaves, browning, and premature leaf drop. Infected trees may die within a few weeks to a few months, depending on the species and environmental conditions. Early detection and management are crucial to prevent the spread of this destructive disease.
