Emerald Ash Borer
The Emerald Ash Borer is a small, metallic green beetle native to Asia. It primarily infests and kills ash trees, leading to significant ecological and economic damage. The larvae of the beetle burrow into the tree's bark, disrupting the flow of nutrients and water, which ultimately causes the tree to die.
First discovered in the United States in 2002, the Emerald Ash Borer has since spread to many states and parts of Canada. Efforts to control its population include insecticides and biological control methods, but the pest continues to pose a serious threat to ash trees and forest ecosystems.
