Norwegian history
Norwegian history dates back to the Viking Age, around 800 to 1050 AD, when Norse explorers, traders, and warriors expanded their influence across Europe. The Vikings established settlements in places like Iceland, Greenland, and even parts of North America. This era is marked by seafaring, trade, and the development of a unique culture.
In the following centuries, Norway entered a union with Denmark in 1380, which lasted until 1814. After a brief period of independence, Norway entered a union with Sweden that lasted until 1905. Today, Norway is known for its rich cultural heritage and strong democratic traditions.
