Northern Ireland Flag
The Northern Ireland Flag, also known as the Ulster Banner, features a red hand on a white shield, which is placed on a red and white striped background. The red hand symbolizes the O'Neill dynasty and represents the province of Ulster. The flag was used by the Government of Northern Ireland from 1953 until 1972.
Although the flag is associated with Northern Ireland, it is not an official flag today. The Union Flag is often used instead. The Ulster Banner remains a symbol for some loyalist groups and is displayed at sporting events and parades.
