Northern Gannets
The Northern Gannet is a large seabird known for its striking white plumage and long, pointed wings. These birds are primarily found along the coasts of the North Atlantic Ocean, where they nest on steep cliffs and rocky islands. They are excellent divers, capable of plunging into the water from great heights to catch fish.
Northern Gannets have a wingspan of about 6.5 to 7.5 feet and can weigh between 5 to 8.5 pounds. They are social birds, often seen in large colonies, and communicate through a variety of vocalizations. Their diet mainly consists of fish, which they catch using their impressive diving skills.
