Northeast Frontier Agency
The Northeast Frontier Agency (NEFA) was a former administrative region in India, established in 1954. It was created to manage the northeastern territories, which include areas that are now part of the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Nagaland. NEFA was primarily focused on development and integration of these remote regions with the rest of India.
In 1972, NEFA was officially renamed as Arunachal Pradesh when it became a Union Territory. The region is known for its diverse cultures, rich biodiversity, and strategic importance due to its borders with China, Bhutan, and Myanmar. The change aimed to enhance local governance and promote regional development.
