North British Railway
The North British Railway (NBR) was a major railway company in Scotland, established in 1844. It played a crucial role in connecting Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as extending services to the northern regions of Scotland. The NBR was known for its extensive network, which included both passenger and freight services.
In 1923, the North British Railway became part of the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) during the grouping of British railways. The NBR's legacy continues to influence modern rail transport in Scotland, with many of its original routes still in use today.
