Norman culture
Norman culture originated from the Norse settlers known as the Vikings who settled in the region of Normandy in northern France during the 10th century. This culture blended Norse traditions with local Frankish customs, leading to a unique identity characterized by a strong warrior ethos, maritime skills, and a feudal system of governance.
The Normans are also known for their architectural achievements, particularly the development of Romanesque style buildings, including the famous Duke William's Castle and the Abbey of Jumièges. Their influence extended beyond France, significantly impacting England after the Norman Conquest in 1066, shaping language, law, and culture.
