Duke William of Normandy
Duke William of Normandy, also known as William the Conqueror, was born in 1028. He became the Duke of Normandy in 1035 after the death of his father, Robert I of Normandy. William was a powerful leader and known for his military skills, which helped him maintain control over his duchy.
In 1066, William invaded England and defeated King Harold II at the Battle of Hastings. This victory led to the Norman Conquest of England, where William became the first Norman king. His reign significantly influenced English culture, language, and governance, marking the beginning of a new era in English history.
