Noor Inayat Khan
Noor Inayat Khan was a British spy during World War II, born on January 1, 1914, in Moscow, Russia. She was the daughter of an Indian prince and an American mother, which gave her a unique cultural background. Noor became a wireless operator for the Special Operations Executive (SOE), a secret organization that conducted espionage and sabotage against the Nazis.
In 1943, Noor was sent to France to help the resistance. Despite the dangers, she bravely transmitted vital information back to Britain. Unfortunately, she was captured by the Germans in 1943 and later executed in 1944. Noor was posthumously awarded the George Cross for her courage.
