Nancy Wake
Nancy Wake was a notable figure during World War II, known for her role as a spy and resistance leader. Born in 1912 in New Zealand, she later moved to Australia and became a journalist. When the war began, she joined the French Resistance, where she helped save the lives of many soldiers and civilians.
Wake was recognized for her bravery and resourcefulness, earning the nickname "The White Mouse" due to her ability to evade capture by the Gestapo. After the war, she continued to serve her country and was awarded numerous honors, including the George Medal and the Legion of Honour.
