Violette Szabo
Violette Szabo was a British spy during World War II, known for her bravery and dedication to the Allied cause. Born on June 26, 1921, in London, she worked as a shop assistant before joining the Auxiliary Territorial Service and later the Special Operations Executive (SOE). Szabo was trained in espionage and sabotage, and she undertook dangerous missions in occupied France.
In 1944, Szabo was captured by the Germans while on a mission and was eventually executed at the age of 23. Her courage and sacrifice have been honored in various ways, including a posthumous George Cross award and a film titled "Carve Her Name with Pride."
