Nongkrem
Nongkrem is a traditional festival celebrated by the Khasi tribe in Meghalaya, India. It usually takes place in November and lasts for three days, marking the harvest season. The festival is characterized by vibrant dances, music, and rituals that honor the local deities and seek blessings for a good harvest.
During Nongkrem, participants wear traditional attire, and the highlight is the Shad Nongkrem dance, performed by men and women. The festival also includes offerings of animals, such as goats, to the Syiem, or chief, symbolizing gratitude and respect for the land and its resources.
