Nizam Shahi
The Nizam Shahi dynasty was a prominent ruling family in the Deccan region of India from the late 15th to the early 17th century. Founded by Malik Ambar, the dynasty established its capital at Ahmednagar and played a significant role in the political landscape of southern India. The Nizam Shahis were known for their resistance against the Mughal Empire and their efforts to promote trade and culture in the region.
The Nizam Shahi rulers were patrons of art and architecture, contributing to the rich cultural heritage of the Deccan. They built several forts and monuments, including the famous Ahmednagar Fort. The dynasty eventually declined due to internal conflicts and external pressures, leading to its annexation by the Mughals in 1636.
