Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region
The Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region is located in north-central China. Established in 1958, it is one of the five autonomous regions in the country, primarily designed to provide a degree of self-governance for the Hui people, a predominantly Muslim ethnic group. The region covers an area of approximately 66,000 square kilometers and is bordered by Gansu to the south and Inner Mongolia to the north.
Ningxia's capital is Yinchuan, which serves as the political, economic, and cultural center of the region. The economy is largely based on agriculture, with notable production of goji berries and wolfberries. The region is also known for its rich history, including ancient sites like the Ningxia Museum and the Western Xia Tombs.
