Night Herons
Night herons are medium-sized wading birds belonging to the family Ardeidae. They are known for their distinctive appearance, featuring a stout body, short neck, and long legs. Common species include the Black-crowned Night Heron and the Yellow-crowned Night Heron. These birds are primarily nocturnal, hunting for fish, amphibians, and small invertebrates during the night.
Night herons are found in a variety of wetland habitats, including marshes, lakes, and rivers. They often nest in colonies, building their nests in trees or shrubs near water. Their unique hunting behavior and adaptability make them an important part of their ecosystems.
