Nickel Production
Nickel production involves extracting nickel from its ores, primarily nickel sulfide and nickel laterite. The process typically begins with mining, where the ore is crushed and ground. The nickel is then separated from other minerals through various methods, including flotation and hydrometallurgical processes.
After extraction, the nickel is refined to remove impurities. This is often done through smelting, where the ore is heated in a furnace, or through hydrometallurgical techniques that use chemical solutions. The final product is usually in the form of nickel metal or nickel alloys, which are used in various applications, including batteries and stainless steel.
