Ngawang Namgyal
Ngawang Namgyal was a significant historical figure in Bhutan, known for unifying the country in the 17th century. He is often referred to as the "Shabdrung," which means "the one who abides in the teachings." His leadership helped establish the foundations of Bhutanese governance and culture, promoting the practice of Buddhism throughout the region.
He is credited with building many important monasteries and fortresses, including the famous Taktshang Monastery (Tiger's Nest).
