Taktshang Monastery
Taktshang Monastery, also known as the Tiger's Nest, is a prominent Buddhist monastery located in the Paro Valley of Bhutan. Perched on a cliff at an elevation of about 3,120 meters (10,240 feet), it offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The monastery was built in the 17th century and is a significant pilgrimage site for Buddhists.
The name "Tiger's Nest" comes from the legend that the Guru Padmasambhava, an important figure in Tibetan Buddhism, meditated here after flying on the back of a tigress. Today, Taktshang Monastery attracts many visitors who hike the scenic trails leading to its entrance, making it a symbol of Bhutan's rich cultural heritage.
