Ngauruhoe
Ngauruhoe is an active stratovolcano located in the central North Island of New Zealand. It is part of the Tongariro National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Standing at 2,291 meters (7,516 feet), it is one of the country's most iconic peaks, known for its symmetrical cone shape and frequent eruptions.
The volcano last erupted in 1975, and its activity has shaped the surrounding landscape. Ngauruhoe is often associated with the Mount Doom character from J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" films, which were partially filmed in the area, attracting many visitors and hikers.
