New Haven Colony
The New Haven Colony was a Puritan settlement established in 1638 in present-day Connecticut. Founded by a group of English settlers led by John Davenport and Theophilus Eaton, it aimed to create a community based on strict religious principles. The colony was known for its emphasis on a theocratic government and its commitment to moral discipline.
In 1662, the New Haven Colony was merged with the Connecticut Colony to form a larger, more unified government. This consolidation helped stabilize the region and allowed for better defense against external threats. The legacy of the colony remains significant in the history of early American settlements.
