Nepenthes
Nepenthes is a genus of carnivorous plants known as pitcher plants. They are characterized by their unique tubular leaves that form a deep cavity filled with liquid. These structures attract and trap insects, which the plant digests for nutrients. Nepenthes are primarily found in tropical regions, particularly in Southeast Asia.
There are over 100 species of Nepenthes, each varying in size, shape, and color. Some species can grow to be quite large, with pitchers that can hold several liters of water. These plants thrive in nutrient-poor environments, making them fascinating examples of adaptation in the plant kingdom.
