Nelly Sachs
Nelly Sachs was a German-Swedish poet and playwright, born on December 10, 1891, in Berlin, Germany. She is best known for her poignant writings that reflect the suffering of the Jewish people during the Holocaust. In 1940, she fled to Sweden to escape the Nazi regime, where she continued to write and gain recognition for her work.
Sachs received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1966 for her literary contributions, which often explore themes of exile, loss, and hope. Her notable works include the poetry collection In the Habitant of the Night and the play Eli: A Mystery Play of the Sufferings of Israel.
