Nehanda
Nehanda was a prominent spiritual and political leader of the Shona people in present-day Zimbabwe. She played a crucial role in the resistance against British colonial rule during the early 20th century. Nehanda was revered as a medium of the ancestral spirits, which gave her significant influence among her people.
In 1896, she led the First Chimurenga, a rebellion against colonial oppression. Nehanda's leadership and vision inspired many to fight for their rights and land. After her capture, she was tried and executed in 1906, but her legacy continues to symbolize the struggle for independence in Zimbabwe.
